Family Dollar shopper alleges store let water pool on floor before her fall

CHARLESTON – A Brandywine woman alleges she incurred several thousand dollars in medical bills after a fall in a discount store.

Linda Fleece filed a complaint in Kanawha Circuit Court against Family Dollar Stores of West Virginia LLC alleging negligence.

The suit states that the plaintiff was at the defendant's Family Dollar store on Oct. 5, 2018, and she was injured in a fall after slipping in water on the floor. She alleges the defendant allowed the water to stand on the floor and did not clean it up or warn visitors.

The plaintiff alleges she paid more than $16,000 in medical bills for her injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking a trial by jury, all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Charles M. Love IV and of the Love Law Firm in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
