Starcon International alleged to have terminated employee for reporting fuel spill

WAYNE – A Lincoln County couple is suing the husband's former employer over allegations that he was terminated for reporting a fuel spill.

Ezra Adkins and Sandra Adkins filed a complaint in Wayne Circuit Court against Starcon International Inc. and Carla Mallory alleging wrongful termination in violation of public policy.

The suit states that Ezra Adkins began his employment with Starcon in November 2005 and most recently worked as a C-operator. The suit states the plaintiff reported a fuel spill on April 1, 2018, that occurred during the night shift and that clean up allegedly was improperly handled. The plaintiff alleges he was informed that the situation had been handled the next day. 

The suit states on April 3, 2018, the plaintiff was told that he had "ruffled too many feathers" when he reported the incident. On April 5, 2018, the plaintiff was laid off and another person was hired to perform his tasks. The plaintiff alleges he was terminated for reporting the spill.

The plaintiffs are seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiffs are represented by Abraham J. Saad of Saad Dixon Law Offices PLLC in Huntington.
