WINFIELD – A West Virginia man alleges the camper he purchased has a defective roof.

Bentford Spradling Jr. filed a complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against Forest River Inc. citing the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act and other counts.

The suit states that the plaintiff purchased a 2017 Surveyor 293 camper on July 18, 2017, manufactured by the defendant, from Burdette Camping Center. The suit states in April 2018, the plaintiff noticed the camper's roof was beginning to peel on one side and contacted Burdette. The suit states a Burdette representative determined that the roof needed repaired.

The plaintiff alleges the camper is defective and the defendant failed to disclose to consumers that its Surveyor campers often had roof problems.

The plaintiff is seeking actual and statutory damages, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Benjamin M. Sheridan and Megan Patrick of Klein and Sheridan in Hurricane.

The case has been assigned to Judge Phillip Reeder.
