WINFIELD – The daughter of a man who died as a result of a fall while a resident at Hurricane nursing facility has filed a suit on behalf of her father's estate.

Rebecca Vandergriff, as executrix of the Estate of William Perry, filed a complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against Sunbridge Putnam Health Care LLC, doing business as Putnam Center, and Genesis Healthcare LLC alleging statutory violations, negligence, reckless misconduct and wrongful death.

Perry became a resident of Putnam Center in May 2018 and the plaintiff alleges in her suit that her father suffered "multiple falls" while there, including "a ground level fall with rib fractures resulting in death."

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide health care services that complied with state law and failed to provide him with adequate supervision.

Vandergriff seeks punitive damages, a trial by jury and all other relief the court sees fit to award. She is represented by Jeff Stewart, Andrew Paternostro and S. Andrew Stonestreet of Stewart Bell PLLC in Charleston.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joseph Reeder.
