WHEELING — The Charles Sledd Company is facing a lawsuit from a former employee claiming she was fired for taking family medical leave for treatment of anxiety and depression..
Mary Finsley filed a complaint in Ohio Circuit Court against Sledd Distribution Services Inc., doing business as Charles Sledd Company, alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and West Virginia Human Rights Act.
Finsley, who was being treated for depression and anxiety, began working for Charles Sledd as a customer service representative on Aug. 8, 2014. She alleges that on April 9, 2019, after having changes to her medications, she took family leave. She alleges that just prior to obtaining a medical release to return to work from her doctor, on June 18, 2019, she was fired.
Finsley seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Sandra Law and Carlie Fisher of Schrader Companion Duff & Law PLLC in Wheeling.
