Woman claims she suffered injures after Morgantown Utility left lid off water meter pit in her yard

MORGANTOWN — A woman is suing the Morgantown Utility Board alleging it failed to properly place the lid back on a water meter pit in her yard. causing her to fall and suffer injuries. 

Mary Frohnapfel filed a complaint in Monongalia Circuit Court against the Morgantown Utility Board alleging negligence. 

Frohnapfel alleges she was trimming shrubs in her yard near the road at the front of her house when she fell into a "hidden" meter pit that was placed in and around her landscaping by Morgantown Utility. Frohnapfel claims the fall caused her to roll her ankle and suffer a broken bone and damage to ligaments. She alleges Morgantown Utility failed to properly place the lid on the meter after taking a reading. 

Frohnapfel seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other proper relief. She is represented by J. Edwards of Cranston & Edwards PLLC in Morgantown.
