West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals issued the following announcement on June 1.

Supreme Court Justice Evan Jenkins on Monday announced the launch of a new civic and student education video series, entitled “And Justice for All.” Beginning Monday, and each Monday for the next few months, the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals will release short videos that highlight many unique facts about our state Supreme Court and the judicial system in West Virginia.

“In our system of government, the public is counting on the courts to protect their rights and liberties. Through this video series we hope to share not only why our judicial system is so important in a civil society, but also how it works,” said Justice Jenkins, who narrates the series.

“The videos will cover a wide range of topics such as highlighting the history of our beautiful Supreme Court chamber in Charleston, describing how cases are handled from Magistrate Court to the Supreme Court, and profiling the important work the almost 1,500 state judicial employees do in county courthouses throughout West Virginia,” Justice Jenkins said. “Whether these videos are used by social studies teachers to help educate our students or watched by a West Virginian just wanting to learn more about the judicial system, we hope the videos will help promote more awareness and understanding of the importance of an independent judiciary that is transparent, accountable and accessible, Justice Jenkins said.

The first two videos, an introduction to the series and a history of the Supreme Court Chamber, were released at the announcement
