CHARLESTON – A Greenbrier County woman says she was the victim of age discrimination by her former employer.

Maureen Lonanacre, 62, filed her complaint against the National Council On Compensation Insurance Inc. in Kanawha Circuit Court.

According to her complaint, Longanacre was employed by the defendant for 16 years. She says she consistently performed her duties in a satisfactory manner.

On May 16, 2019, she says she was unlawfully and wantonly terminated and replaced with someone substantially younger than her.

She says the defendant violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act. She says she has suffered lost wages and benefits as well as been subjected to indignity, embarrassment, humiliation, annoyance and inconvenience.

Longanacre seeks compensatory and punitive damages as well as pre-judgment interest, attorney fees, court costs and other relief.

She is being represented by Mark A. Atkinson and John-Mark Atkinson of Atkinson & Polak of Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit.
