Woman says improper installation of dishwasher caused mold, medical issues

State Court
Lowes

WINFIELD – A Putnam County woman says her house developed a mold problem after workers for Lowe’s improperly installed a dishwasher.

Shannon Larwa filed her complaint against Lowe’s Home Centers LLC in Putnam Circuit Court.

According to her complaint, Larwa contracted with Lowe’s in October or November 2018 to install a dishwasher at her home in Hurricane. She says the dishwasher was improperly installed, creating a hidden water leak.

Over time, she says, this leak caused damage to her home and created a buildup of mold. She says the mold led to her being exposed to dangerous toxins. She says lab tests showed these toxins in her body.

She also says Lowe’s breached its duty by refusing to honor the warranty and make necessary repairs and remediation.

Larwa seeks compensatory damages for property damage, cost of repairs, personal injury including medical expenses as well as pain and suffering and emotional distress, loss of use of her property and other damages. She also seeks pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs, attorney fees and other relief.

She is being represented by Scott H. Kaminski of Kaminski Law in Charleston.
