Sydney Q. Kaplan

Calwell Luce diTrapano PLLC recently issued the following announcement.

Calwell Luce diTrapano PLLC announced that lawyer Sydney Q. Kaplan has joined the law firm as its Practice Manager. In addition to her management duties, Kaplan will also represent plaintiffs in general personal injury matters.

“We are delighted to welcome Sydney to our firm’s management team and attorney roster,” said the firm’s founder, Stuart Calwell. “Working alongside Managing Partner Melissa Luce, Sydney brings a competitive spirit to the table and is a passionate advocate for civil and human rights, hallmarks of our firm.”

“In addition to our firm’s reputation for successful legal battles against corporations such as Monsanto, Dow Chemical, and American Water, we also pride ourselves on meeting the needs of our staff,” said Luce. “During the extraordinary times surrounding the current pandemic and juggling dozens of remote workers at different intervals, bringing Sydney aboard will help the firm mitigate the uncertainties that arise along the way.”

As a former Public Defender in Ohio, Kaplan stated that she is ecstatic to join a firm with principles that align with her core beliefs. “When an opportunity comes along to work with like-minded people, you jump on it,” said Kaplan. “I have observed the firm’s fearlessness in representing their clients against corporate giants while remaining humble and approachable at the same time. I am looking forward to joining them in the trenches.” Prior to joining the Calwell firm, Kaplan practiced law in the concentrated areas of medical malpractice and civil rights violations derived from Section 1983, along with general personal injury and contract disputes.

Kaplan earned her Juris Doctor from the Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University and graduated magna cum laude. She earned double Bachelor of Arts majors in History and Political Science at West Virginia State University, where she graduated as class Valedictorian.
