HUNTINGTON — A Wood County couple is suing CVS Pharmacy and a pharmacist for injuries sustained after receiving a flu shot.

Lois Morris and Charles Morris went to CVS Pharmacy on Nov. 20, 2017, to get flu vaccinations and Lois Morris received her shot from Kathy Gibbs, a pharmacist, who then immediately directed her to go to the counter and fill out paperwork, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

When Lois Morris stood up, she fainted and fell, hitting her head on the counter and then on the floor, according to the suit. Charles Morris witnessed his wife fall and strike her head and she was transported to Camden Clark Hospital because she was unconscious and non-responsive.

Lois Morris had to stay at the hospital for three nights and required assistance to do daily activities after the fall. Charles Morris had to miss work and suffered a monetary loss while carrying for his wife, the lawsuit states.

The Morrises are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They are represented by Jonathan R. Mani of Mani Ellis & Layne.
