Towboat angelina nola pushes barge on the mississippi river 1200x675

NEW CUMBERLAND — A Newell man is suing Congo Corporation and others for injuries he sustained while working as a laborer on a barge.

Congo Corporation; Robert Juszczak, doing business as Juszczak Construction; Juszczak Development Company and an unknown, unnamed individual were all named as defendants in the suit.

Chad Post claims he was working for Congo on Jan. 14, 2019, as a laborer and was removing on eof the lids to a container on a barge when a hook on a crane owned by Juszczak that was lacking a safety latch came loose from the lid and became entangled with the structure of the barge.

Post's hand was captured by the hook and he was lifted by the crain and sustained severe and permanent injuries. He claims the defendants were aware of the existence of unsafe working conditions and did not remedy those conditions.

Post is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is represented by Daniel J. Guida of Guida Law Offices and Christopher M. Turak of Gold, Khourey & Turak.
