CHARLESTON — A woman says Charleston Area Medical Center failed to prevent pressure sores and other related skin injuries from her family member.

Mark A. Cole was admitted to CAMC on Sept. 11, 2019, through Nov. 8, 2019, and he suffered pressure sores on his right heel, right hip, left thigh, bilateral buttock, coccyx and sacrum. Letha D. Meador-Cole claims the defendant failed to provide preventative measures for Cole, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

CAMC was negligent and failed to properly staff its facility, failed to supervise Cole and breached its duties by allowing Cole to suffer and incur medical expenses, according to the suit.

Meador-Cole claims CAMC's actions and omissions were willful, reckless and wanton.

Meador-Cole is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Jeff D. Stewart, Andrew L. Paternostro and S. Andrew Stonestreet of Stewart Bell PLLC.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Tera Salango.
