PRINCETON — A woman is suing a surgeon, alleging he did not operate within the standard of care.

Heather Anderson went to Bluefield Regional Medical Center with severe abdominal pain on Dec. 16, 2018, and Dr. Frederick Barker performed two surgeries to figure out the issue and during the second one he removed a portion of the omentum, according to a complaint filed in Mercer Circuit Court.

Anderson claims after her condition worsened, she was transferred to West Virginia University Medical Center, where an abdominal exploration revealed fecal contamination and multiple abscesses secondary to the sigmoid perforation.
