Parents sue school board for daughter's injuries

KINGWOOD — The parents of a minor who attended Preston High School are suing the Preston County Board of Education alleging that their daughter was injured while on school property.

Jason Christopher Lilly and Christina Louise Lilly allege their daughter, Abbigail Ruth Lilly, was on school property on Dec. 12, 2017, and was attending gym class when she was injured by a door that separated the gym area struck and crushed her right foot, according to a complaint filed in Preston Circuit Court.

The Lillys claim Abbigail Lilly suffered severe permanent and disabling injuries to her foot due to the unsafe condition of the door.

The defendants were negligent and violated state statute, according to the suit.

The Lillys are seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. They are represented by John R. Angotti, David J. Straface and Chad C. Groome of Angotti & Straface in Morgantown.
