KINGWOOD — The estate of a man is suing the Preston County Board of Education alleging a teenager died after a Preston High School staff member allowed him to leave school property without consent.

Tammy Jo Bishoff and Duane Bishoff filed the lawsuit on behalf of the estate of Brayden Bishoff, who was only 15 years old when he died, according to a complaint filed in Preston Circuit Court.

Brayden Bishoff left school on Feb. 14, 2019, and died as a result of a car accident that occurred in Preston County after the staff member allowed him to leave with another young student who had very little driving experience.

Brayden Bishoff's parents claim the school board was negligent in not properly following its own policies and is responsible for their son's death.

The estate is seeking compensatory with pre- and post-judgment interest. The estate is represented by David M. Grunau in Morgantown.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Steve Shaffer.
