CHARLESTON — A woman is suing Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center for retaliation when she reported improper reporting practices.

St. Albans Operating Company is doing business as Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. Cristee L. Hatfield was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Kenna L. Young was employed at Riverside as a licensed practical nurse and she learned on her first day that the defendants were engaging in undocumented medical practices, such as observing undocumented pressure ulcers and was told that they don't do anything about pressure ulcers, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Young claims she reported the findings to Hatfield, who retaliated against her for reporting the incidents and terminated her employment.

Young claims she suffered embarrassment, humiliation, aggravation, emotional distress and a loss of dignity.

Young is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Rodney A. Smith and Todd S. Bailess of Bailess Smith in Charleston.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
