PHILIPPI — A Cabell County man is suing the Good Samaritan Society-Barbour County alleging his family member suffered at the hands of a nursing home that did not provide adequate care.

Oodayyun Wagoner, the administrator of Good Samaritan, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Mickey J. Schoonover filed the lawsuit on behalf of Agatha R. Schoonover, who was a resident of the defendant's skilled nursing facility from January 2020, until August 2020, according to a complaint filed in Barbour Circuit Court.

Mickey Schoonover claims the defendants failed to provide a safe environment for Agatha Schoonover and her skin injuries progressed and she suffered an acute kidney injury.

Agatha Schoonover suffered a lower quality of life because of the care she received from the defendants, according to the suit.

Mickey Schoonover is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is being represented by Jeff D. Stewart, Andrew L. Paternostro and S. Andrew Stonestreet of Stewart Bell in Charleston.
