WILLIAMSON — A woman is suing Advantage Timberland after a tree fell on her home.

Teresa Cantrell had a 1989 Reflection single-wide that sustained damages when a tree owned by the defendant fell onto her residence and caused damages on April 12, 2020, according to a complaint filed in Mingo Circuit Court.

Cantrell claims Advantage negligently failed to maintain its property and failed to properly inspect and monitor the property. She claims it also failed to warn her of the hazard the tree posed.

As a result of the defendant's negligence, Cantrell's residence in Matewan was severely damaged, according to the suit.

Cantrell claims she suffered annoyance, aggravation and inconvenience and has suffered loss of use.

The plaintiff is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is represented by Greg K. Smith and Barry C. Marcum of the Law Office of Greg K. Smith in Williamson.
