State Court
Ruralking

PRINCETON — A woman is suing Rural King after she was injured outside of its Bluefield location.

Mary Hicks claims she went to Rural King on May 9, 2020, and was in the parking lot when she tripped on a raised edge in the pavement at the entrance and was injured, according to a complaint filed in Mercer Circuit Court.

Hicks claims she was walking from the parking lot toward the flowers that were located right of the entrance of the shop when she stepping into the depression of the pavement and her foot struck the raised edge of the pavement, causing her to fall forward. She suffered significant injuries because of the fall.

The plaintiff alleges that Rural King was negligent in failing to fix the pavement and was careless, negligent and reckless. She claims she did not commit any fault of her own that caused her injuries.

Hicks is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Eric Buckner and Jennifer Dempsey Meeteer of Katz Kantor Stonestreet & Buckner in Princeton.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Mark Wills.
