Couple says LG washing machine was defective

State Court
Depot

WINFIELD — A Putnam County couple is suing Home Depot and LG Electronics for a defective washing machine.

Richard Reese and Dawn Reese purchased a new washing machine from Home Depot on May 6, 2020, which was then installed in their home on June 4, 2020, according to a complaint filed in Putnam Circuit Court.

The Reeses claim during the first time using the machine, it made loud sounds like it was falling apart and they immediately turned it off and notified the defendants, who, over the next two months, refused to replace or repair the machine.

Finally, on Aug. 9, the defendants attempted to service the machine and told the Reeses it was functional, however, when they attempted to use it, the machine suffered an internal explosion, which caused water to infiltrate their home and damage their property, according to the suit.

The plaintiffs claim the defendants replaced the washing machine on Aug. 16. They claim the defendants breached their implied warranties and negligently repaired the washing machine.

The Reeses are seeking compensatory damages. They are represented by Thomas H. Peyton of Peyton Law Firm in Nitro.
