CHARLESTON — A Logan County man is suing oil and gas companies alleging that they have failed to pay him royalties.
Greylock Energy, Greylock Production and Greylock Midstream were all named as defendants in the suit.
James T. Wellman is the owner of oil and gas rights in West Virginia and leased the oil and gas rights to the defendants, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.
The defendants have continued to take deductions, reduce his royalty payments, overcharge him for deductions that they do charge and have otherwise reduced his royalty on volume and/or price and/or by taking unauthorized deductions, according to the suit.
Wellman claims the defendants have not paid him royalties. They have intentionally failed and refused to pay royalties even though they had an affirmative duty to pay him.
Wellman is seeking compensatory damages. He is represented by Marvin W. Masters and April D. Ferrebee of The Masters Law Firm.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
