CHARLESTON — A man is suing several oil and gas companies claiming they have failed to pay him the royalties that he is owed.
Greylock Energy, Greylock Production and Greylock Midstream were named as defendants in the suit.
James T. Wellman claims he is the owner of oil and gas rights that are leased to the defendants, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court. He claims while he has received royalties, they aren't at the amount he is supposed to be receiving.
The defendants have taken deductions, reduced his royalty payments, overcharged him for deductions and have reduced his royalty on volume and/or price and/or by taking unauthorized deductions, the complaint states.
Wellman claims the defendants have not paid him the proper royalties he is owed. He claims the defendants have intentionally failed and refused to pay the royalties even though they had an affirmative duty to pay him.
Wellman is seeking compensatory damages. He is represented by Marvin W. Masters and April D. Ferrebee of The Masters Law Firm.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
