Fairmont woman says Astorg Auto sold her a defective vehicle

CLARKSBURG — A Fairmont woman is suing Astorg Auto of Charleston and Jaguar Land Rover North America for a defective vehicle she purchased.

Kelly L. McCoy purchased a new Range Rover Sport for $85,992 on Dec. 27, 2018, from Astorg and was the first owner of the vehicle, which had 32 miles on it when she purchased it, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.

McCoy claims within the first few days she could not connect to the WiFi in the car, but she thought she was doing it wrong. She claims in June and July 2019, the check engine light and wrench light came on and off repeatedly, even after being reset. She also began to experience other issues and took the vehicle to Astorg to be fixed.

By 2020, the defendants had had the vehicle several times to fix it for various issues, but the vehicle was still having problems. She claims the defendants have failed to fix the vehicle or provide her with a comparable vehicle free of defects.

McCoy is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Jeffrey V. Mehalic of Mehalic Law in Morgantown.
