CHARLESTON — Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia released its annual legislative scorecard laying out how West Virginia legislators voted during the 2021 legislative session.

AFP-WV has been releasing its annual scorecard since 2016. It focuses on key legislation that AFP-WV believes is important for the state and how each legislator voted on those proposals.

“As we continue to unite folks across the state, regardless of party, around proven policy solutions that will make West Virginia a better place to live, work and raise a family, it is increasingly important to help connect citizens to the legislative process by highlighting how their lawmakers stood on some of the most critical issues of the day," AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman said. "We hope Mountaineers will use this as a resource to engage with their elected officials and make their voices heard throughout the legislative process."

During this session, AFP-WV supported 17 pieces of legislation, which included the Hope Scholarship, the WV Appellate Reorganization Act of 2021, the WV Employment Law Worker Classification Act, paycheck protection, the budget bill, exempting hospital services from certificates of need and expanding access to life-saving telehealth services.

The group is currently working on its statewide tour to meet with lawmakers and grassroots leaders to work on positive reforms in the state.

AFP-WV also plans to kickstart its annual lawmaker accountability campaign over the next few months, which is comprised of paid media and grassroots activities that highlight the Key Vote Scorecard, to continue helping make government transparent to the people, inform citizens on the positive reforms made and how those reforms will break down barriers holding West Virginians back from reaching what AFP-WV believes is their full potential.

AFP-WV launched its Pathway to Prosperity last year, which is a policy roadmap and prioritized opportunities and growth for West Virginia residents.
