HUNTINGTON — An architectural and engineering firm is suing The West Virginia Building alleging that the building and its owner owe more than $300,000 for renovations.

Alexander Vence was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Balzer & Associates entered into an agreement with the defendants in 2017 in which the firm would provide architectural services for the interior renovation of seven floors of the building, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

The firm claims additional tasks were added to the contract and the contract price was increased to $235,339.10. The firm claims it completed its contractual obligations to the building on Jan. 29, 2019, but the defendants have failed to make payments pursuant to the contract.

With interest, the defendants now owe $307,639.49, according to the suit.

The firm is seeking for judgment in the amount of $307,639.49 with costs, interests and attorney's fees. It is represented by Arnold J. Janicker and Steven P. Turner of Jenkins Fenstermaker.
