Kentucky woman sues Huntington for injuries

HUNTINGTON — A Kentucky woman is suing the city of Huntington alleging that she was injured when she fell in downtown Huntington.

Leslie P. Stewart was walking to her car on Fourth Avenue in Huntington on May 4, 2019, when she stepped into an uncovered utility hole and fell, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.

Stewart claims the city was negligent in maintaining its utility meters and in inspecting, repairing and maintaining the uncovered utility meter in which she fell.

As a result of the defendant's negligence, Stewart endured physical and emotional pain and suffering, annoyance and inconvenience and loss of her capacity to enjoy life, according to the suit.

Stewart is seeking compensatory damages. She is represented by Michael J. Del Giudice of Ciccarello, Del Giudice & LaFon in Charleston.
