Parkersburg man sues AAA for insurance policy cancelation

State Court
Caraccident 800x450

CHARLESTON — A Parkersburg man is suing AAA Insurance Company for canceling his insurance policy and not informing him.

Charles Abdella was involved in an accident on Feb. 18, 2020, in Wood County and he had an insurance policy through AAA, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Abdella claims AAA never informed him that it had canceled his policy prior to the accident and he believed he was covered when the accident occurred. He claims he did not request or authorize the cancelation of the policy.

Abdella claims he called AAA after the accident and reported the accident to the company. He claims AAA was aware that it breached its contractual, statutory and/or regulatory obligations with regard to the plaintiff.

Abdella claims the defendant had a duty to properly issue an automobile insurance policy and breached that duty.

Abdella is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is represented by Todd Wiseman of Wiseman Law Firm in Vienna.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Tera Salango.
