CHARLESTON — A woman is suing Davol Inc. alleging defective mesh used during her hernia repair surgery.

Bard Access Systems and Becton, Dickinson and Company were also named as defendants in the suit.

Sherri Damron had hernia repair surgery in 2007 in which mesh by the defendants was used, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court

Damron claims the defendants negligently, carelessly and wrongfully made, designed, conceived, manufactured, tested and distributed the mesh and knew or should have known it was dangerous.

The plaintiff suffered sorrow, loss of society, companionship, mental anguish and guidance due to injuries she suffered from the mesh, according to the suit.

Damron is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Charles M. Love IV of the Love Law Firm in Charleston.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Maryclaire Akers.
