Man sues AutoZone for car accident by employee

FAYETTEVILLE — A man is suing AutoZone alleging its employee was responsible for a car accident that caused him injuries.

Ashley Smith, AutoZone Parts Inc. and AutoZone Inc. were all named as defendants in the suit.

Allen K. Dunford was operating his vehicle in Oak Hill on June 11, 2019, when Smith, who was operating a vehicle owned or leased by AutoZone, fell asleep while driving and crashed into Dunford, causing him injuries, according to a complaint filed in Fayette Circuit Court.

The car accident caused Dunford to sustain injuries to his neck and back and great pain of body and mind, loss of enjoyment of life and other impairments and disabilities, according to the suit.

Dunford is seeking compensatory damages. He is represented by Stephen B. Farmer, Robert A. Campbell and Jeffrey T. Jones of Farmer Cline & Campbell in Charleston.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Paul M. Blake.
