WHEELING — A couple is suing the Village of Bethlehem alleging village-owned pipes burst and caused them property damage.

Zachary Ziegler and Angela Ziegler own property on Hickory Lane in Bethlehem that includes a retaining wall in the backyard and a patio, according to a complaint filed in Ohio Circuit Court.

The Zieglers claim pipes owned by the village burst and caused a significant amount of water to run onto their property and they contacted the village to repair their property, but the village failed to repair, replace or maintain the damaged pipes and water continued to infiltrate their property, causing their retaining wall to move and their patio to sustain damage.

The village was informed on multiple occasions by the plaintiffs about the broken pipes and the damage caused to their property, but failed and refused to do anything about the damage, according to the suit.

The Zieglers claim their property was damaged due to the defendant's negligence.

The Zieglers are seeking compensatory damages. They are represented by David F. Cross and Erica Cross Conti.
