Habitat home mv v1

Habitat For Humanity Knox County, Mt Vernon, Ohio/Facebook

CHARLESTON — A woman is suing Habitat for Humanity alleging she was injured while shopping at its retail establishment.

Amber J. Davis was shopping at the Habitat retail store on June 19, 2019, and an employee was on a ladder hanging ceiling lights when a light fell off of the support rack and struck her in the head, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Davis claims the defendant failed to exercise reasonable care and failed to ensure they did not harm anyone.

The defendant was negligent and failed to maintain safe conditions for shoppers and failed to properly inspect the work area, according to the suit.

Davis is seeking compensatory damages. She is represented by Andrea J. Geiger of The Joel Bieber Firm in Charleston.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
