Woman sues Wheeling Island Gaming for injuries

WHEELING — A woman is suing Wheeling Island Gaming alleging injuries while on its property.

Wheeling Island Gaming is doing business as Wheeling Island Hotel, Casino & Racetrack.

Linda Pasternak was lawfully present at Wheeling Island on Aug. 21, 2019, when she fell due to an uneven spot under the carpeting, according to a complaint filed in Ohio Circuit Court.

Pasternak claims there were electrical and/or other wiring or cords secured but hidden under the carpet that posed a tripping hazard.

The plaintiff suffered a broken left tibia, a broken left fibula, bruises and other injuries. The plaintiff ended up needed a knee replacement due to her injuries, according to the suit.

Pasternak is seeking compensatory damages. She is represented by Chad P. Shannon and Peter D. Friday of Friday & Cox in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Jason Cuomo.
