Michelle Teppo of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC has been elected President of the National Association of Lease and Title Analysts (NALTA) for the 2021-2022 term. NALTA is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the advancement and education of land professionals in the oil and gas industry. As President, she will preside over all meetings, serve as the organization’s spokesperson, appoint committee leaders, and serve as Chair of the Board of Directors.
Teppo is an Abstractor Analyst in Steptoe & Johnson’s Wheeling office and is part of the Energy and Natural Resources Department. She became active in the Greater Appalachian Basin Association of Lease and Title Analysts (GABALTA), NATLA’s Eastern U.S. chapter, after earning her lease and title analyst certification. She quickly became a rising star in GABALTA where she served as Secretary, President, liaison to NALTA, and was twice named “Member of the Year.”
At the national level, Teppo was named “Member of the Year” for 2021. She has held positions of leadership nationally including Recording Secretary and First Vice President. She was instrumental in planning NALTA’s annual conference in both 2020 and 2021. She was also the editor of NALTA News, the organization’s quarterly magazine.
She joined Steptoe & Johnson as a title abstractor in 2008 and works alongside attorneys in the firm’s energy practice to serve clients in the Marcellus Shale region. She specializes in mineral title abstracting and due diligence. Teppo holds a bachelor’s degree from West Liberty University.
