HUNTINGTON — A woman is suing The Unsafe Buildings Commission of the City of Huntington to stop it from demolishing her property

Joyce Thompson is the owner of a building on Bridge Street in Huntington that has been put on the city's demolition list, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Thompson claims she never received any certified mailings and the only first-class mailing she received was in regard to her grass being too high. She wants to stop the city from demolishing her property.

The plaintiff claims if the city demolishes her property, not only will she lose her initial investment into the property, but she will also lose the future use of the property.

Thompson is seeking to enjoin the commission from demolishing her property and give her the opportunity to bring it up to code. She is represented by Jason Goad of McClure Goad in Huntington.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Farrell.
