HUNTINGTON — A man is suing BEK Inc. alleging his employment was wrongfully terminated.

BEK Inc. is doing business as Level 1 Fasteners.

Roberto Abel began working for the defendant in 2011 and for several years his sister, Angelina Bourelais, was married to the owner, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Abel claims his employment was terminated after 10 years on May 14 and he was not provided any specific work-related basis for the termination. Abel's sister is currently in the process of divorcing BEK Inc.'s owner.

"The defendant's termination of Mr. Abel was deliberate and reckless, and resulted from the defendant's blatant disregard of Mr. Abel's legal rights, which it knew or reasonably should have known it could not violate," the complaint states.

Abel is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is represented by Hoyt Glazer of Glazer Saad Anderson in Huntington.
