MORGANTOWN — A former employee is suing the West Virginia University Board of Governors and West Virginia University Medical Corporation claiming that she was wrongfully terminated.

Dr. Lubna Mehyar is a pediatric physician and was recruited by the defendant to establish a Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Program and during her employment, she observed numerous patient safety concerns and instances of wrongdoing and waste, but her concerns were not adequately addressed and she was eventually terminated in retaliation, according to a complaint filed in Monongalia Circuit Court.

Mehyar claims the defendants breached their employment contract with her by terminating her employment before her contract expired and by not paying her incentive compensation consistent with the terms of the contract.

Mehyar is seeking compensatory damages. She is represented by Sean W. Cook of Charleston.

Monongalia Circuit Court case number: 21-C-139
