Couple says Cook Carriers, others responsible for car accident

CHARLESTON — A couple says Cook Carriers is responsible for a car accident that occurred in 2019.

Cook Carriers, Trent William Myers, Jason Wright, Jason Wright LLC, Sentinel Leasing and Erie Insurance were all named as defendants in the suit.

Sheri Lynn Brown and Gregory Wayne Brown allege the defendants caused an Aug. 28, 2019, car accident that caused severe injuries, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The Browns claim Gregory Brown was driving a Ford truck on Interstate 64 when Myers, who was operating a tractor trailer failed to stop and rear-ended Gregory Brownand caused a chain of vehicles to strike each other.

Gregory Brown sustained injuries and physical limitations due to the defendants' negligence, according to the suit.

The Browns are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They are represented by Robert Campbell and R. Chad Duffield of Farmer Cline & Campbell.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Maryclaire Akers.
