Wayne woman says she was injured by picnic table outside of courthouse

WAYNE – A Wayne woman says she was injured when a picnic table outside the county courthouse flipped over while she was sitting on it.

Gaynell Self filed her complaint in Wayne Circuit Court against the Town of Wayne.

According to her complaint, Self was attending the Wayne Fall Festival in 2019. She was eating with her husband at a picnic table outside the courthouse. When additional patrons sat down, she says the table flipped, causing her head to hit the pavement.

She says the town and its employees failed to properly inspect, locate and secure the table. She says she endured injuries, pain of body and mind, hospital and medical bills and lost the ability o enjoy life. She seeks compensatory damages and other relief.
