WHEELING – Wheeling attorney Teresa Toriseva has filed to run for a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates.
Toriseva said she mailed the paperwork to run January 28 from the post office in Elm Grove. As apparently the lone Democrat running, Toriseva will face off against six-term Republican incumbent Erikka Storch in the general election for the newly created 4th District, which includes most of Ohio County.
“I am motivated to run for House by my love of the Northern Panhandle and I am dedicated to this place as a business owner, a property owner, a parent and a citizen," Toriseva said in a press release announcing her run. "As part of my campaign, in addition to visiting people where they live, I will visit every business in the district to hear about their successes and discuss their needs.”
Toriseva was born and raised in the Northern Panhandle, graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University and from the West Virginia University College of Law. After law school, she practiced law for 10 years in Charleston before moving back to Wheeling where she raised her family and started her own law firm, Toriseva Law.
This is the first year all West Virginians will vote in 100 single delegate districts.
