HUNTINGTON — A woman filed a lawsuit against Guyan Golf & Country Club claiming she was wrongfully terminated from her employment at the country club.

Isaac Meyers, the director of operations at Guyan, and Allan D. Thacker, the general manager at Guyan, were also named as defendants in the suit.

Tiffany Collins was employed as a bartender from June 9, 2018, until Nov. 1, 2020, when she was wrongfully and unlawfully terminated, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Collins claims Meyers was her supervisor and Meyers reported to Thacker, who also supervised her.

Collins claims she consistently performed her duties in an excellent manner was well-liked by many of the club members.

She claims she became eligible for the defendant's health insurance plan and that during her employment she had advised the defendants that she had various healthcare issues that needed medical treatment and she requested the forms for her to apply for the plan, however, the defendants refused to provide her the forms.

The defendants also automatically deducted time from each of her shifts, even if she worked through her lunch period, but did not allow her to opt-out of the automatic deductions, according to the suit.

Collins claims during her employment the defendants engaged in systemic sex discrimination of females and condoned a misogynistic environment. She claims she was routinely subjected to lude and improper and harassing behavior by some club members and co-workers.

In August 2020, Collins reported that Thacker had smacked her on the rear and she was suddenly, finally, given the forms to apply for the health insurance policy and Thacker apologized for the incident.

In November 2020, Meyers informed the plaintiff she was being terminated and when she inquired as to why, she was blamed for a car being broken into on club property and then alleged that she was involved in a stolen cookie incident that involved a dishwasher, according to the suit.

Collins claims she told the defendant his alleged reasons did not make sense. She claims she was fired for previously reporting Thacker's sexual harassment.

Collins is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is represented by Kurt Entsminger, Phillip Estep and W. Scott Evans of Estep Entsminger Law Group in Charleston.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Paul T. Farrell.
