Milton woman says she injured herself on rug at Piggly Wiggly

HUNTINGTON – A Milton woman says a slip-and-fall accident at Piggly Wiggly caused her injuries.

Jeannette N. Smallridge filed her complaint in Cabell Circuit Court against H&T Corporation, doing business as Milton Piggly Wiggly Store #6017.

According to the complaint, Smallridge was shopping at the grocery store June 26, 2020, when she says she slipped and fell because of a bunched-up rug at the entrance of the store. She called the rug a dangerous and hazardous condition.

Smallridge says she was seriously and severely injured by the slip and fall. She says she was rendered sick, sore, lame and otherwise disabled. She says the injuries sustained aggravated previously existing defects and infirmities, and she she says the incident will cause her great pain and anguish in the future.

She says she has had and will have painful and extensive medical care and treatment, and she has had and will have medical bills and expenses because of her injuries.

Smallridge seeks compensatory damages, interest and costs. She is being represented by R. Matthew Vital of Vital & Vital in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul T. Farrell.
