WHEELING — A Wyoming County man is suing Paragon Integrated Services Group for injuries sustained at work.
Paragon Integrated Services Group and SWN Energy Services Company were both named as defendants in the suit.
Jarrod Goins was employed by BKD Consulting as a Solids Control Specialist and was assigned and directed by BKD to work at a worksite in Wetzel County, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.
Goins claims prior to the incident on Nov. 17, 2020, one of the centrifuges on the rig was not operating properly and when he came to work that day, he was instructed to perform maintenance work on the centrifuge's gearbox, despite him not being properly trained to do so.
While attempting to perform the maintenance work, Goins sustained severe and disabling injuries, including a partial traumatic metacarpophalangeal amputation of the right index finger, displaced fracture of the middle phalanx of the right middle finger, partial traumatic transphalangeal amputation of the left ring finger, complete traumatic transphalangeal amputation of the right index finger and crushing injuries to both hands and the left wrist, according to the suit.
Goins claims the defendants were negligent in failing to maintain the centrifuge and failed to ensure that he had the proper training to perform the maintenance work on the centrifuge.
Goins is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is represented by D. Blake Carter Jr. and David A. Bosak of Bailey Javins & Carter of Charleston.
