Steptoe & Johnson PLLC is pleased to welcome to the firm’s leadership Will Robinson as Chief Financial Officer, and Jennifer Ross as Director of Recruiting.
“It’s wonderful to welcome Will and Jennifer to our growing firm,” said Steptoe & Johnson CEO Christopher L. Slaughter. “Both bring years of experience and knowledge of their respective roles to Steptoe & Johnson, and we’re excited to have them on board as we plan for the firm’s future.”
Robinson, in his role as Chief Financial Officer, will play an integral role in evaluating the firm’s strategic growth opportunities, developing pricing models and alternative fee arrangements, and will oversee all general accounting and billing functions. He succeeds Richard J. Mackessy, who will retire later this year after more than a decade as CFO, including serving in the dual role of Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer from 2013 to 2021.
Robinson comes to the firm with nearly two decades of experience at a Big Four accounting firm, with his latest role being an Assurance Managing Director. He has experience in initial public offering and debt offering transactions, leading technical accounting applications, and serving as a lead audit executive or engagement partner. He earned both master's and bachelor’s degrees from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
As the Director of Recruiting, Ross will oversee the firm’s attorney recruitment program including the formation and implementation of recruiting strategies and candidate selection processes that will help the firm continue to grow its practices and footprint to best serve its clients. She will also be the firm’s liaison to law schools and career services offices across the country.
Ross has an expansive background in recruiting and comes to the firm after nearly 20 years as Director of Recruiting at a large international law firm. Her experience includes leading a global team of recruiters, creating and sustaining organizational culture, and providing full lifecycle recruiting for partner and associate lateral candidates in addition to new associate candidates. She earned her bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University.
