Meet DTCWV member, Matthew (Matt) Miller. Matt is an Associate at Jackson Kelly PLLC, working from their Morgantown, WV, office. He practices with the Oil & Gas and Energy Industry Groups, focusing primarily on general litigation matters, and occasionally works on appellate and transactional matters, as well.
“The practice of law is not my first career, but it is my favorite of all of the jobs I have had. I absolutely love drawing on the law and on the extensive knowledge of my colleagues to craft a cohesive argument for why my clients should win. There is something very satisfying about finding the answer to a tough legal question and then finding a way to persuasively explain it,” he said.
“As an early-career lawyer, I want to connect with the broader community of attorneys in our state. DTCWV was an obvious choice for me to join based on its reputation and on the visible involvement of my Jackson Kelly colleagues in the organization.”
“My wife and I have a 7-year-old son, a 5-year-old daughter, and are about to welcome our third child, which we are very excited about. I worked in oil and gas for a decade before I made it to law school, and while I am happier now, I do sometimes miss the amount of time that I was able to spend in the woods as a landman,” said Matt.
