Jackson Kelly PLLC announces that the Firm has elected Robert G. Tweel as the new Managing Member. Mr. Tweel takes over for Ellen S. Cappellanti, who served as Managing Member for the past eight years.

Mr. Tweel served as the Firm’s Assistant Managing Member and practices in the Banking and Financial Services Industry groups, focusing primarily on tax law.
Mr. Tweel has been with Jackson Kelly since 1994 and received his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law in 1993. The winner of multiple awards, including Charleston, WV “Corporate Lawyer of the Year in 2021, "Mr. Tweel has an enthusiasm for his practice and has notable legal experience to back up his many recognitions. He routinely represents corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and partnerships on issues such as formation, operation, sale, and dissolution. He also forms professional entities for accountants, physicians, lawyers and dentists, and many other professions and also form charitable organizations and healthcare entities. Mr. Tweel also represents tax-exempt entities on a variety of transactional issues and represents individuals, businesses, and estates in audits, assessments, collections, and appeals involving the Internal Revenue Service.
Mr. Tweel taught as an adjunct lecturer at the West Virginia University College of Law, teaching courses on Partnership Tax and State and Local Tax. He has presented on issues ranging from changes in tax law, reportable transactions, standards of tax practice, partnership tax issues, charitable giving, and international tax issues throughout his career.
Ms. Cappellanti will remain with the Firm, sliding back into a full legal practice in the Transactional Practice Group, focusing on commercial finance, real estate, and related transactions.
