WINFIELD — Klein & Sheridan is suing a person who left an alleged false Google review.

Carrie Mace left a review online stating Klein "failed to inform our accountant and president about the correct filing deadline," according to a complaint filed in Putnam Circuit Court.

Klein & Sheridan claims Mace's review stated that "Klein told them the wrong deadline! Would not return ANY phone calls. I've spoken with Bar regarding this unethical practice. It's way deeper EVERY week."

The plaintiff has no record of ever representing Mace or having her as a client and believes the name may be a fake name, according to the suit.

The firm claims it reported this fact to Google, which has verified the review and left it up.

"Carrie Mace left a 1-star review for Klein & Sheridan LC on Google, which ... has deterred and continues to deter numerous clients from seeking services with Klein & Sheridan LC."

The firm says Mace's Google review is fictitious and salacious and has caused harm for no reason.

As a result of the review, Klein & Sheridan has lost reputation, business and opportunity and continues to do so as the review is still up, according to the suit.

Klein & Sheridan claims Mace's review was defamation.

"The defendant's assertions on Google are objectively false," the complaint states. "Klein & Sheridan LC has no record of a Carrie Mace as a client and, assuming it is a codename, the review is still nonsensical and upon information and believe false."

The defendant's actions have caused the plaintiff to be annoyed, inconvenienced, harassed, bothered, upset, angered and caused them to lose business, according to the suit.

The firm claims its lost opportunities because of Mace's review.

Klein & Sheridan are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. Benjamin M. Sheridan is representing the firm.
