For the second year in a row, World Trademark Review has awarded Dinsmore & Shohl LLP’s trademark group with a Gold ranking in its annual WTR 1000 for 2023. Additionally, five of the Firm’s attorneys earned individual rankings.
In its report, WTR writes that Dinsmore has a deep and diverse bench of trademark experts. “It prides itself on its collaborative approach and service-mindedness and, given client feedback, rightly so.” Pulling from months of research, the WTR 1000 identifies the world’s leading trademark professionals. Firms that “undertake the most sophisticated work” earn a Gold status, according to the publication.Quoting client feedback gathered during their research, WTR writes, “Dinsmore is incredibly user-friendly and has one of the best user interfaces you can think of. Its lawyers are always willing to help out, no matter how crazy your demands are.”Five Dinsmore attorneys earned individual rankings on 2023’s list. James Dimitrijevs, who earned a Gold status and Grant Monachino, who earned Silver, “link up to act for a leading global retailer in a role requiring the management of 25,000 active trademark matters, many of them relating to iconic brands,” WTR commented. “Dimitrijevs and Monachino are savvy international strategists who bring nearly 50 years of collective experience to the practice.”Karen Gaunt also earned Gold status on this year’s list.
She is, “a litigation and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) proceedings expert who chairs the IP litigation and enforcement side, represents Microsoft in connection with the prosecution and enforcement of its global trademark portfolio,” WTR wrote in its report. “Gaunt’s many other clients include USA Baseball, which she serves as outside general counsel and for which she undertakes extensive contentious work, including anti-counterfeiting.” Clients specifically noted the “outstanding” performance of Karen Gaunt and April Besl (Silver ranking) who team up as “fantastic partners” appreciated for their collaborative approach and responsiveness. “The highly personable Besl serves as trademark and copyright group chair and is adept at servicing large portfolios for consumer goods, technology, gaming, entertainment, financial services and restaurant patrons, and advising on social media, internet and Web 3.0 issues,” WTR wrote in its report.Finally, Govinda Davis makes her debut in the WTR 1000 for 2023. Clients indicated that “Davis impresses not only through her 360-degree trademark expertise, but through her work on the diversity and mentoring front, both within and outside Dinsmore.”The 2023 rankings solidify Dinsmore’s trademark group as one of the best in the country with a ranking on the WTR 1000 every year since 2014.
