CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County man says he was injured when he slipped on snow and ice at Yeager Airport.

Adedamola Oyedokun filed his complaint February 14 in Kanawha Circuit Court against the Central West Virginia Regional Airport Authority, which operates West Virginia International Yeager Airport.

According to the complaint, Oyedokun was at the airport on February 14, 2021, returning a leased vehicle to a tenant at the airport. As he was returning from the main airport building to the parking garage for his personal vehicle, he says he slipped on snow and ice on the sidewalk area near the garage.

He says he landed on his right side, causing injury to his right knee, shoulder and elbow areas as well as generally to his right side. He says the defendant breached its duty to properly maintain the premises, to properly clear snow and ice from areas where customers would be traversing and to properly warn customers of possible bad conditions of the surface.

Because of his injuries, Oyedokun says he required medical treatment, therapy and surgeries, incurring medical treatment costs, loss of ability to earn money and suffered great pain of body and mind as well as permanent injuries.

Oyedokun seeks compensatory damages and other damages. He is being represented by Shannon M. Bland of Bland & Bland in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Maryclaire Akers.
