CHARLESTON – A Charleston man says he was physically assaulted by bouncers at a downtown strip club.

Robert Mullins filed his complaint February 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Eatery Inc. doing business as Elite Gentlemen’s Club.

According to the complaint, Mullins was a patron at the business on May 14, 2022, when he was stopped as he left the premises and blocked by employees of the businesses. They told him he could not leave until he deleted a photograph from his personal phone.

When Mullins declined to delete the photo, he says two employees physically assaulted him, “choking him to the point of losing consciousness.” Mullins says he was kicked in the head, his neck was injured and his arms were held behind his back.

Mullins accuses the defendant of assault and battery and false imprisonment. He says he suffered permanent physical and emotional injuries, and he says he has lost past and future wages. He seeks compensatory damages.

He is being represented by Anthony Salvatore of Hewitt & Salvatore in Beckley. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
